OUR HISTORY

1971
Founded 1971
Founded in Scawthorpe, Doncaster in 1971 by Andrew Barry and a group of like-minded locals, Scawthorpe Scorpions Football Club was born from a shared love of the game.
Andy had come down from Scotland after World War II to work in the coal pits, bringing with him a passion for football and a devotion to Dundee United.
Inspired by Dundee United’s professionalism & their tangerine orange and black colours, he helped create a football club for the village’s youngsters in this relatively new community.
Today, the Scorpions proudly wear those very same colours, honouring the club’s origins and spirit.
