One of our own signs two-year Scholarship with Barnsley FC Academy.

 

We are delighted for our former Goalkeeper Aston Wilson who has recently signed a two-year scholarship at Barnsley FC Academy.

 

Aston started his football journey at Scawthorpe Scorpions at the tender age of 6 and finished his Scorps Journey with ‘Managers Player of the Year’ at the age of 16.

 

Breaking for a couple of seasons to join Doncaster Rovers Academy and then returning to Scorps. Aston recently received the offer of a two-year professional scholarship within the academy following a successful trial period after joining Barnsley FC Community Trust’s Shadow Scholarship Programme back in the summer of 2023.

 

Aston’s Coach with Scawthorpe Lee Glover added ‘Aston has always been a great lad, very coachable and have always said he will be a success in whatever he chooses in life.

 

He was our captain and I’m extremely proud of him!’ Here at the Club, we are very proud of Aston’s achievements, wish him well with the Academy and will watch his progress with interest.

 

More kids sign for pro clubs via the oranges than any other. Not bad for a little 3 star club!
